Director's Blog

Here is a blog from the Director of Bearing Precious Seed El Paso, Kenn Winn. This is a place you can come to read encouraging posts relating to our ministry here in El Paso, TX. We hope you enjoy!

By looking at the title, I am sure that there are many people in ministry who would read this and would say that ministry travel is not easy at all. Perhaps they look at it from a perspective of a parent dealing with tired and frustrated children. Or maybe they look at it as the driver of the vehicle that just had it's second blown tire in the last four hours. Or perhaps they even look at it as the person who is just road weary and tired of fast food. While my family and I do not travel near as much as some people in ministry, I certainly understand and have been able to relate all too often to all of those examples (if i have one more quarter pounder from McDonald's....). However, after recently spending some time on the road representing the ministry, I came back with some lessons...

I recently had the privilege of passing the one year anniversary of my family's time here at BPS El Paso. It is truly hard to believe that this year has passed. I can say with all assurance that God has blessed my family and I in so many ways. We truly love this ministry and dream of all the things that God will accomplish through this ministry. When I surrendered to missions at the age of 14, I could never have anticipated being where the Lord has allowed me to be. I am thankful for His hand of guidance and blessing. As I spent some time reflecting on the last year, the Lord brought to my mind several lessons that He has been able to teach me. While there certainly are more lessons learned than space to share them, I wanted to pass on a few lessons that may be a...

Often in life and ministry, there are times when we face situations or events that are simply out of our control. A natural reaction to that is to get discouraged or allow worry to dominate our hearts and minds. Of course, this leads to a lack of dependence on Christ and what He desires to do through those times.  Over the course of the last year, I have had the privilege of facing some of these times. I believe that if we can approach the situation as something God wants to use, I believe that we will be able to count them as privileges when we look back on them. That does not necessarily mean that everything will be easy, but it does mean that everything will be put in the hands of the One Who can take care of it all. Over these last several months, the Lord has taken...

One of the difficulties that many people in ministry face is the balance between being active in the work of the Lord and being too busy doing the work of the Lord. For some, a schedule filled with many hours of work gives them a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. For others, being personally involved in every ministry possible gives them a sense of accomplishment. While the work of the ministry is very important, we must not fail to see the greater picture. It is not being busy in ministry that makes us successful, but rather how productive we are in ministry. Too often, people in ministry think busy and productive are the same thing. However, they truly are very different.  As I began my life in ministry back in 2006, I found myself desiring more than anything to fill my schedule so that my Pastor would realize how awesome it...

As we head into this new year, I want to extend a personal invitation to all the churches who are wanting to go on a missions trip to come and join Bearing Precious Seed El Paso as we endeavor to take the Word of God to the lost. We would count it a privilege to have your church group come in and serve with us as we reach the lost in Mexico or the lost in the Navajo Nation. We want to see God glorified and people drawn to Him. The mission trips are a week long and provide a great way to impact eternity. Any age church group is welcome as it is important for all people to see God at work on the foreign field. There is tremendous value in taking a mission trip with BPS El Paso: 1. Obedience to Christ's command - Christ clearly stated before His...
